Condition Guidelines

We are happy you want to sell your books to BOOKSwanted!

To have a successful transaction, we ask that you follow some simple guidelines regarding book condition and packaging for shipment.

Please compare your books to the guidelines below, and be sure to pack your books securely in a sturdy box with all seams sealed with strong tape so they arrive in good condition.

Acceptable

  • Text markings up to 20% of pages and maximum 20% of total shipment—except workbooks, lab manuals, and study guides, which must be free of any markings.
  • Hardback book club editions—ISBN must match.

Not Acceptable / Poor Condition
—We will return at seller's request and expense

  • Moisture damage of any kind
  • Stains or discoloration of any kind (mold, smoke, etc.)
  • Odors of any kind (tobacco, pets, etc.)
  • Heavy general wear (heavy spine creasing, dogeared cover corners, insect damage, etc.)
  • Cover tears (including dust jackets) no larger than a quarter inch; no more than 2 tears per book

Not Acceptable / Kinds of Books
—We will return at seller's request and expense

  • Books with no ISBN
  • Ex-library books
  • Teacher and instructor edition textbooks
  • International edition textbooks
  • Advance reader, promotional, free, uncorrected proof, review, "Not For (Re)sale" copies
  • Out-of-date reference books, including encyclopedias, dictionaries, almanacs, etc.

Not Acceptable
—Deductions may be taken for:

  • Missing / damaged CDs, DVDs, or other accompanying media; $15 per missing item
  • Missing hardback dust jackets - $5 per missing jacket
